Literacy Groups

This term we have started working in literacy groups.  In our groups we are learning all about reading, writing, taking turns and working together.

Some of the activities we have done are; guided reading with Miss Jeffery, using the computers to help us learn sounds and words, playing rhyming words game, using the listening post with the interactive whiteboard, reading a story called Rascal the Dragon and making our own mini flap books that show the beginning, middle and end of the story.

We are also staring the parent helpers program.  We have had lots of parents volunteer to help out during our literacy group activities and the first helper started today.  Thank you very much parents! We love having you along to help work with us!

Circus Skills

This week in Circus Skills we learnt how to use three more pieces of equipment.  They were hula hoops, ribbons and spinning plates.

Rubber Chickens

Mrs Simes-Martin recently bought some rubber chickens for our school. We thought it would be fun to see how far we could throw them so we went outside for a rubber chicken throwing competition. Four children made it into our grand final and Johnny ended up throwing his chicken the furthest.

Circus Skills

This Week we started our Circus Skills program. We were shown three pieces of circus equipment and had a go at using them. They were Poi, Devil Sticks and Scarf Juggling.

Super Egg

On the last day of Term 1 our school had our annual Super Egg competition. All the students came to school with a decorated hard-boiled egg which they raced down the Thunderdome. We celebrated Easter and raised money for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal. It was a great day!
