Specialist Cup

Last week our class won the specialist cup!  We won the cup by listening carefully to the teachers and following instructions in Art, Music and PE.  We feel very proud of ourselves!

Rubber Chickens

Mrs Simes-Martin recently bought some rubber chickens for our school. We thought it would be fun to see how far we could throw them so we went outside for a rubber chicken throwing competition. Four children made it into our grand final and Johnny ended up throwing his chicken the furthest.

Circus Skills

This Week we started our Circus Skills program. We were shown three pieces of circus equipment and had a go at using them. They were Poi, Devil Sticks and Scarf Juggling.

Super Egg

On the last day of Term 1 our school had our annual Super Egg competition. All the students came to school with a decorated hard-boiled egg which they raced down the Thunderdome. We celebrated Easter and raised money for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal. It was a great day!

Buddy Lunch

On Thursday we had a barbeque for a special Buddy Lunch. Our parents came along too so they could meet our buddies. Thank you to all the parents who helped to organise the lunch and get all of the food ready on the day! Here are some pictures of our Buddy Lunch.

The Rainbow Fish

We've been reading a book called The Rainbow Fish.

In the story the rainbow fish shares his shiny scales with other fish to be a nice friend. We've been talking about what makes a nice friend.

We have been learning about the letter r. We have thought of some words that start with the letter r;

rainbow
run
rug
robot
rocket

We made our own rainbow fish and we tried to colour in the scales in a repeating pattern. Here are some of our fish:

Doubles

This week in maths we are learning about doubles. We are learning the doubles facts:

1 + 1 = 2
2 + 2 = 4
3 + 3 = 6
4 + 4 = 8
5 + 5 = 10
6 + 6 = 12

Today we played a doubles game in pairs where we had to roll a dice and double the number shown. Then we put a counter on that number on the game board. The winner of the game was the first person to get four counters in a row.
