Healesville Sanctuary By Julian

On Thurday we went to Healesville Sanctuary. I went on a bus with 3/4K and I sat at the back with Jyedin, Jason and Raymond. Inside the sanctuary there was a huge eagle made of metal perched on a log. As we moved deeper into the sanctuary we spotted an emu running around its enclosure. Then we saw a koala sleeping in its tree. A white bird with a long beak swooped down and I chased it. A few minutes later it came back and attacked me. It pecked me hard on the head and then flew away. Then we had a lesson about where some Australian animals live, what type of animal they are and what they eat. We got to feel a snake, frog and ring-tailed possum. Then we felt a tawny frog-mouth and Conor actually fed it a dead mouse. Then we went to the Birds and Prey show and the bark owl actually scraped my head. Then we had lunch and took a walk around the park and went home on the bus. We had a fun day! (my head still hurts)

My Myth By Samantha

Once upon a time there was a blue, green and white chicken. One day the chicken laid eight eggs. They became Pluto, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury and Venus. That day the chicken burst. Its eyes became the Sun and the Moon and its body became the Earth. Its legs became the rings around Saturn and Uranus and its lice became people. That is how the Solar System began.

Trundle Wheels

Today for maths, our class have been measuring distance using Trundle Wheels. We had to measure how far it was in metres from our classroom to various places around the school including the office, sports shed, front door and toilets. We enjoyed using the Trundle Wheels.

The Titanic

In literacy our group have been reading about the Titanic. We were just reading it a few days ago and we found out lots of things about the people who were on the ship. There were 20 life boats which was not enough because the 20 life boats could only hold about 1000 people and there were more than 2000 people on the ship. Some people in our group made a model of the Titanic using MAB blocks. They made it look just like the real one. Jeremy brought in a model that he had of the Titanic too. It was really good.
