Learning Styles

Welcomes to our Grade 3/4 A class blog for 2013!

CALC
For the first week and a half of the year we have been doing our Creating a Learning Community Program and have spent lots of time getting to know each other and deciding how we would like our class to run this year.  It has been lots of fun.  We are very lucky to have the HUGE classroom near the office with four air conditioners.  There is plenty of room for all sorts of activities and we have been taking advantatge of all the space and enjoying our nice refuge from the heat.

Learning Styles
One of the things we have been talking about during CALC is Learning Styles.  These are based on Gardiner's theory of Multiple Intelligence.  The idea is that there are eight styles of learning and each person has a preferred way to learn.  We did a questionnaire to find out what they are in our class.  This will help with designing lessons throughout the year that are suited to particular children.  The eight Learning Styles are: Nature, Maths and Logic, Music, People, Self, Visual and Word.  Please watch the video above to see Grade 3/4 students explain and demonstrate the concept.

We're looking forward to a fantastic year!

Miss Jeffery
