Kids Shouldn't Do Chores

Some people think that kids should do chores at home and some people think kids should not be given chores at home.

Children should not do chores because if they are washing the dishes they might not wash them properly. Also if the kids wash knives they could accidentally cut themselves. If kids sweep the floor all the dust could go in their face, which isn't good. That is why kids shouldn't do chores.

Children should not do chores at home because they might get tired for school and they are not going to get time for homework or study at home. Children have to study first because education is very important. This is their time to study and learn things that might be good for when they are big.

If children have to do chores they might not be able to go out and meet their friends or talk with their friends. This could get tiring and can also be boring. Kids should be able to go outside and play. If kids do too much of helping they can get stressed and sick.

Some people think kids should do chores at home because they can learn how to do things responsibly but that is not true. Being responsible is good but that would be expecting too much from kids. They should get time to talk and play. Besides, they are just kids!

Finally, children should not do chores because they need a break from school. It is also their only time to study. No chores for kids!

I go to a Grammar school and get 2 hours of homework a night. I come home at 4:30, do my homework 'till 6:00, have my tea, do more homework, do the dishes then go to bed at 9pm. All electronics are banned. :(

This article was written by a CHILD!

The article has no bearing on reality.

Chores teach responsibility, and give children a sense of accomplishment.

Let us all not be responsible. Adults Too.
That way the country can continue to flounder economically.

Thanks for the laugh of an article.

I believe that children should have chores, but it should only be if they’re cleaning up a mess they made. As a teenager, I feel like my parents can’t get off their lazy asses and clean up a mess they made themselves. They always have to rely on the kids to clean up after other people in the house. Once they give their kids chores, the kids are being taken advantage of. The one and only chore that kids should have is to clean up after themselves. Here are some examples of that:
1) Cleaning their OWN room.
2) Vacuuming their own room.
3) Cleaning up a spill they made on the floor/carpet.
4) Cleaning up after their pet.
5) Washing their own hair
6) Picking up something that they dropped on the floor
7) Cleaning their own dishes that they used
8) Washing their own clothes

Basically, my point is that they need to clean up after themselves instead of being taken advantage of by their parents. I’m pretty sure that none of you agree with me, but that’s how I feel. I absolutely hate cleaning up after other people when they’re clearly physically/mentally capable of doing it themselves.
